Chara Sprite Base

So if you want to make your own characters in the Time Fantasy style, here’s the base I created.

I’m pretty sure that it’s actually included in the pack, but it’s here for anybody who hasn’t bought it, or just for convenience.

Important note: This is at its original workable size. If your game is for RPG Maker VX/Ace, after you make your character, blow up the whole thing to 200% (keep the pixels precise).

I don’t have animated sheets for both genders and both skin tones. I personally don’t use the bases what way when I animate these sprites.

If you want to start making your own characters, but don’t have a lot of pixel experience, then you’ll probably find my tutorial useful:

Enjoy. :)

  1. Heyo Jason, I’ve always enjoyed your work, and you’ve helped me advance in my pixeling skills for awhile now (Even helped me with a base a long time ago). I love these sprites and there style, and I’m currently working on some sprites for them, but I have a few questions involving that.

1 – What’s a reliable way of blowing up pixel art? Most methods I can find make them blurry as can be.

    2. What’s the rules on posting sheets of sprites in this base to forums (not the ones found in the pack)? They’d be non-commercial characters, and would be for non-commercial use, but I’m not sure how this works when it comes to these sprites having to be bought for use.

    Thanks for your time.

    1. 1 – In Photoshop (what I use, probably similar in other programs), if you change the interpolation to “nearest neighbor”, then your pixels will remain crisp at any size.

2 – Yes, feel free to share anything you make (as long as it’s not edits/recolors of the finished sprites in the pack). The base and the style are for everyone. I want Time Fantasy to be a potential alternative to the RTP, and the only way that will happen is if the community starts making news resources in the style. That’s why a lot of posts on this blog encourage people to make their own sprites in the style. Have fun with it dude.
